The virus-host interactions on a nanoscale.

The Liu lab studies the mechanisms of the entry and assembly of paramyxoviruses, including Nipah, Hendra, and other paramyxoviruses. We are particularly interested in the roles of innate immune factors, such as IFITMs, in virus entry and assembly. We probe the virus-host interactions during these processes using single-molecule imaging, including dSTORM, PALM, and single-molecule/particle tracking, at a nanoscale and single-molecule level. We build single-molecule localization microscopes and develop algorithms with versatile imaging techniques to gain detailed information on the protein nanoscale organizations.
